Favourite excursion destinations: The arms museum and zoo in Suhl, open air museum, toy museum Sonneberg, fairy caves in Saalfeld, the Lauscha Glass Museum, the Oberhof sports centre and the fairy-tale caves in Walldorf (all within 50 km). The state capital of Erfurt, the classics city of Weimar, and the Wartburg at Eisenach are also only 1 hour away in the car.
