The Casa de José Américo Foundation, an entity of the Paraíba State Government, linked to the State Secretariat of Culture, is in tune with the institutional mission of preserving, researching and disseminating the life and work of José Américo de Almeida and Paraíba culture for the state. aggrandizement of society. Over the course of three decades, and in line with the purposes of its creation, it has formed a considerable historical heritage, already present in its origin, due to the documentary collection of its patron, José Américo de Almeida.



Located at No. 3336 on the edge of Cabo Branco, it works in the house where its patron, José Américo de Almeida, resided, a pleasant retreat, between coconut trees and an orchard cultivated by the writer that served as a source of inspiration for his literary creativity. The venue is divided into three physical spaces: The Museum House, a building with an auditorium and exhibition hall, and another space housing the Archives of Paraíba governors and personalities, as well as the Durmeval Trigueiro Mendes Library.



Museum - The Casa Museum building, former residence of José Américo, protects his memory through the Foundation. There are preserved both the original and architectural features, as well as its furniture and works displayed in a showcase. In the house there is also the private library of José Américo, with about four thousand copies, art restoration workshop, as well as the original living and dining room, decorated with oil paintings and sculptures by renowned artists. , among other attractions.



Archives - The Casa de José Américo Foundation has been adding collections built by relevant figures in politics, economy, society and culture in Paraíba, with national and international projection. The objective is to promote studies and stimulate the rescue of Paraíba historical memory, through the vast collection of former governors and personalities.



Among former governors and personalities from various areas, the Department of Documentation and Archive is responsible for 28 collections delivered to the custody of the José Américo House Foundation: José Américo de Almeida, Antonio Marques Mariz, Cassio Cunha Lima, Cicero de Lucena Son, Dorgival Third Grandson, Ernani Sátiro, Gratuliano da Costa Brito, Ivan Bichara Sobreira, Joao Agripino, Milton Bezerra Cabral, Jose Targino Maranhão, Pedro Gondim, Ronaldo da Cunha Lima, Tarcisio de Miranda Burity, Wilson Braga, Abelardo Jurema , Jose Rafael de Menezes, Jose Targino Pereira da Costa, Juarez da Gama Batista, Lauro Pires Xavier, Oswaldo Trigueiro de A. and Melo, Paulo Nunes Batista, Virginius da Gama and Melo. Collections by Aécio Villar de Aquino, Eduardo Martins, Edwaldo Ferreira Ouro (History of Municipalities) and Neuma Fechine (Cordel Literature).
