According to historical data, it is known that the parish of St. Stephen Cachopo existed in the year 1535, although its construction was not yet complete. It was formerly composed of five altars (the invocation having the altar of St. Stephen, our patron saint), two naves and seven fraternities. Due to the state of degração church, it was rebuilt in the 50s, disappearing its architectural aspect and its valuable gilded carvings.
