Located in the historic center of the emblematic city of Elvas, the Church was an integral part of the Convent of St. Dominic, founded in 1267, where the old Hermitage of Our Lady of the Martyrs was located.
The Temple features a rich interior with marble baroque altarpieces, 18th-century tile panels with paintings from the life of St. Dominic, and Renaissance paintings, as well as other elements, some on display at the Municipal Museum of Elvas.
