The church, with its present configuration, dates back to the early 17th century, although it was much restored, particularly in the last century, after being damaged by the earthquake of 1755. It is probable that in the same place there was an older parish, has been demolished or added.
Located in the parish of Marmelete.
Its oldest parish registers, existing in the Torre do Tombo, date back to 1642.
All clad in white, contrasting with the surrounding green, lies a little way from the village.
The altarpiece of the main chapel was executed in 1751, as it can be read in the upper part, still bearing the date of 1858, when it was painted.
