The Pitões das Júnias waterfall, in the heart of the Peneda-Gêres National Park, is supplied by the crystalline waters that pass by the Monastery of Santa Maria das Júnias. It has a first drop of about 30 meters followed by several others that allow for a refreshing dip during the summer. All this scenery is surrounded by a beautiful century-old oak forest. To get to the waterfall, just head towards Pitões and head to the car park that gives access to the waterfall, followed by a small pedestrian path of about 600 meters, partly along a wooden walkway. In the vicinity of this waterfall there is a centenary oak tree, which over the centuries has been the subject of several local legends, such as that of an elf living there, and also a wooden bridge.
