The Puritama Baths, an indigenous name that means "hot water", are located in the middle of the desert, just over 30 kilometers north of San Pedro de Atacama, at 3,475 meters above sea level.

For some years they have been managed by the Council of Atacameño Peoples who are in charge of maintaining the facilities of the place.



These hot springs were known for centuries by the locals, but only a few years ago they were opened to the public and to tourism, so they still retain their original purity and charm. Surrounded by desert, the Puritama Baths have modern and comfortable facilities suitable for the rest of the traveler who wants to enjoy nature and the imposing desert landscape.







From Santiago to Antofagasta, 1,368 kilometers by road, from Antofagasta to San Pedro de Atacama, 350 kilometers by road in good condition, San Pedro de Atacama - Baños de Puritama, 30 kilometers by dirt road.



Its waters are warm, refreshing and revitalizing and flow from the underground waters at a temperature close to 33ºC. The waters of the Puritama Baths are sulphurous and recommended to relieve rheumatic diseases and to combat fatigue and stress.



The area around the Baños de Puritama is world famous for its archaeological sites, especially the town of San Pedro de Atacama, declared a ´´typical area´´ in 1980. Nearby you can visit mysterious places such as the Valley of the Moon, original landscapes such as those of the Atacama salt flat, towns famous for their crafts, such as Toconao and other dream places such as the Los Flamencos Reserve and the Tatio Geysers.
