It is one of the most important rivers in the Chilean Andean sector and the main tributary of Lake Villarrica. It is born in Lake Quillelhue near the Lanín volcano, right on the border with Argentina, and kilometers below, when receiving the flows of the Turbio and Licura rivers, it produces large waves. Its course, more than 30 meters wide, descends from east to west winding through a rugged landscape, surrounded by canyons and valleys. Between Catripulli and Llafuica, as in the areas near the mouth, you can practice sport fishing. And since 1987, rafting descents have been carried out, which are divided into sections according to the degree of difficulty of their rapids.

By plane

Pucón has its own airport located on the Camino Internacional, about 5 km away. From the center of the city. There are several taxi lines that cover this route, so it can be accessed directly from Santiago in a very short time. You must arrive at the Maquehue Airport in Temuco located approximately 7 km from Temuco.



By bus

Daily frequencies from the surrounding cities. From Temuco there are departures every half hour. Most of the buses that leave from Santiago circulate during the night.



By car

There are two main ways to get there; from the north on the Panamerican Highway, Santiago or Concepción, passing through Temuco, Freire and Villarrica until reaching Pucón along a paved road that borders Lake Villarrica. From the south, Puerto Montt or Valdivia, passing through Loncoche and Villarrica. Both roads are in good condition, paved.

The Lower Trancura has grade III and IV rapids and offers a good option for beginners and families who want to have fun with their children, in an hour and a half of adventure on the river.
